Fresh Pliny is a great beer. It really is a perfect storm for an overhyped beer though. Excellent early example of a popular style(DIPA) and low availability.

Pliny the Younger is the legend because it's a draft-only limited release each year

The county estimated that PtY release day pumps 5 million tourist dollars into the economy

Anyone mess around with vial yeast? I've only done dry cells, but someone sent me two vials: a northeastern abbey and some yeast engineered from a can of Heady Topper

I haven't, but I have used smack pack before, I've also used the slurry left over from a cream ale as the yeast cells for a IPA. That was an amazing IPA and was like 6 or 7% also remember it bubbling for like 2 whole weeks.

With a vial you're probably just going to want to be a lot more careful with it to prevent from getting infected. How'd you get your hands on that Heady Topper vial though?
I love it when a clam comes together.

It's not fast spawn out there so be careful

Somethingawful.com Home brewing thread secret summer santa. I also got 4 beers which were insanely good. I've been in beer heaven over here.

As long as its sealed in a vial in my fridge... it won't get infected right? Or did you mean during the brewing process?

Did you have to make a starter for that cream ale yeast?

Who has been brewing lately? I brewed a saison with corriander and tangerine peel on Thursday. Not going to be ready to bring any to Beachfest unfortunately.
