[NOTE: We are still doing a BRH FF league. That isn't this. I'll post about the BRH league later this month]

tl;dr: I'm running a unique  fantasy football league based on the Scott Fish Bowl. Entry is free.

A fantasy writer named Scott Fish has been running a league for several years that has garnered the attention of experts and fans alike. This is because the Scott Fish Bowl league has shown that it's quite possible to eliminate a lot of the random screw-jobs that plague FF, while still maintaining all of the fun. All it takes is a RIDICULOUS number of teams in the league.

Here's how it works (almost every setting mirrors the Scott Fish Bowl):
- The league will have a LOT of teams, our goal is 60+
- Each team's regular season experience will be almost identical to a normal 12 team league. We parcel the teams into groups of 12 for the draft & regular season head-to-head matches. So if you've been in a fantasy football league before, ever, it will be almost exactly like that
- The only primary differences come in playoff selection: Head-to-Head record only matters in determining the top seed. Everything else is done by points scored in relation to the entire league. That's right, all the randomness of bad matchups, teams quitting, and other small sample size nonsense is eliminated
- Scoring settings reflect the most cutting edge schools of thought. You don't like PPR because a player can get a bonus point for catching a pass at the line of scrimmage and getting instantly tackled? That's gone. Instead, we use the much more representative metrci of, "getting one bonus point for making a first down." Again, these scoring settings mirror the 2017 Scott Fish bowl, which hundreds of pundits participate in thanks to its strategically calculated scoring and aforementioned anti-screw-job-ness, which is totally a word

Date: July 22. This is a SLOW DRAFT. Each player will have 8 hours clock time to make each pick. Draft timer will be paused between 12AM-8AM PST every day. There's no way to coordinate a time when everyone can do a fast draft, and this also helps kill the time during the NFL's "dark period"

Position Settings:  1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 4 Flex (can flex 1 QB), 11 bench. NOTE there are no Kickers, Defenses, nor Trades. You are all busy people, and deserve better than to have to spend your time reviewing potentially-BS trades, and working the waiver wires for kickers and defenses.

Cost is free. In future years I will collect dues so we can have payouts for the winners, donate to charity, and maybe even offset the $160 league fee I pay. But since it is the first league, let's keep it free so I can work out any potential kinks without too many hard feelings. HOWEVER, if you want to kick down $5-$10 to offset my league fee, which I alone am paying for, it would be greatly appreciated. Just paypal evanhoovler@gmail.com. Again, this is optional, everyone is welcome whether you donate or not

Prize: This inaugural year, since everything will be paid for from my own pocket, only a first place prize will be awarded. It will be the owner's choice of any one item from a selection of trophies and fat championship rings.

To enter, message me an email address . Invite your friends, we need a ton of teams for this to work, I want to hit 60.

Feel free to contact me with any questions. Full scoring/rules breakdown is as follows:

- As mentioned, the entire league will be broken into "divisions" of 12 teams. Each division will have their own draft (22 rounds), and all of a team's weekly regular season head-to-head matchups will take place solely within their division.

- Playoffs are weeks 14, 15, and 16. Top seed byes will go to the top team in each division in terms of record. Also byes will be given to the top scoring team in each division (if this is the same as the team with the best record, the scoring bye will go to the next highest scoring team in the division)

- The rest of the playoff teams will go to the remaining teams with points that place them in the top 50%. So if there are 60 teams divided into 5 divisions of 12, 5 teams will get byes based on record, 5 teams will get byes based on points, and the next 20 highest scoring teams will all battle in the wildcard round

- The 20 teams in the wild card round will all face each other in a giant battle royale week 14. The top 10 scorers will advance to the week 15 round

- The week 15 round consists of the 10 teams who won the wild card round and the 10 teams that got byes. These teams will all face off and the top 10 highest scoring teams for week 15 will advance to the finals.

- Whomever of these remaining 10 teams scores the highest in the week 16 finals wins.

Scoring settings are very avant-garde, and you'll want to examine these before forming your draft strategy:

Scoring is fractional (meaning 4 yards rushing = .4 points, 1 yard passing = .04 points, etc)
Passing:

6 point passing TD,
1 point for 25 yards passing (.04/yard),
1 point per 2 point conversion

Rushing:

5 point rushing TD
1 point for 10 yards rushing (.1/per),
2 points for 2 point conversions
1 points per 1st down

Receiving:

RB/WR
5 point receiving TD (first down is another pt)
1 point for 10 yards receiving (.1/per),
2 points for 2 point conversions,
1 points per 1st down

TE
Same exact scoring as RB/WR, except TE's get 2.5 points per first down

NOTE the NFL counts a TD as a first down, so these "5" point TDs will come out at 6 or 6.5 when the first down bonus is factored

Returns:

6 point for any return TD
6 points if your player recovers a ball in the endzone for a TD

Holy shit, this sounds incredible! Also I think this would be a great gateway for new people seeming as you don't have the pressure of your first fast draft, and also it takes a lot of the management minutia out of the equation. I'm totally down for this, and I hope a lot of members of the community join in too.

I'm definitely in! This sounds like a neat way to do a draft. Just remind me when we start!

Alright, I have room for a few more before I fire up the league . After that, I will still be taking entries, but there is no guarantee you will get in (we need to bring people in in groups of 12.)

So sign up now for a guaranteed entry. It's free, it's streamlined to minimize effort for busy people (no kickers, defenses, etc), there's a trophy at the end.

Also, it wouldn't be complete without F-List celebrities! These will be revealed one by one until your excitement is at an orgasmic pitch!

Today's league celebrity is Erik Braa, voice of Draven, Jax, and Veldoz in League of Legends!

Yes!

You'll all receive an invite later in the week. I can't fire off league invites until I have a multiple of 12, for boring reasons.

Great, glad to have you.  Everyone watch for an invite this weekend.

Only TWO spots left, after that anyone who wants in will be an "expansion team" (you'll be an alternate, unless we get 12 expansion teams to fill out a new division).
